A Fourth of July Celebration (Part 1)

After a delicious meal of fried shrimp, tuna steak, homemade slaw and hushpuppies (boy, were they goooooood!) we headed home. Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Parrott for a delightful dinner!!

Spent the weekend of the fourth surrounded by family and friends. Uunexpectedly, Danny had the weekend off and we were very excited to be able to spend the holiday together!
I am posting this in several posts, as I have too many great photos to share...
Day 1 of our celebration began down at the coast. We were fortunate to head out on our best friend's boat for an afternoon of fun. Thanks James, Martha, Samuel and Lydia!! We parked on our own little private 'island' in the middle of the Intercoastal Waterway. It was fantastic! The water was so blue... almost like we were in the Carribean. Beautiful.
The day caused me to do lots of reflecting on the oil spill in the Gulf... so tragic!!  I feel fortunate that we had a day of enjoyment, when there are so many that could not enjoy their beaches in the south... not to mention devastation to the fishing industry and wildlife. Heartwrenching!
Stay tuned for Day 2 - "Fun with Nana & Papa on the 4th".
Hope everyone had a happy, memorable, safe 4th of July! ((HUGS))
