Thankful Thursday... Lilli and Baby Jesus

Today, I am thankful for the real meaning of Christmas and the "Little People" nativity set we bought Lilli. After reading our friends Jamie and Stephanie's blog post about some of their friends giving their daughter Lily the same set, a bell went off in my head. Danny and I should already be exposing Lilli to the manger scene. Our original idea was to hold off giving the set to Lilli until Christmas morning. We've been talking about Jesus and the story of Christmas for a while, but children learn with interactive toys too. We thought she'd really benefit from seeing what we were talking about... and acting out with the story's characters.

Which leads me to "Part 2" of my story... (& I sincerely hope that this doesn't offend anyone!) My daughter is obsessed with putting baby Jesus from her nativity set in her mouth. She will walk around for hours, gripping the angel with one hand and with the other hand... holds baby Jesus in her mouth. Please tell me, what's a Mommy to do?? I've told her that "we don't put baby Jesus in our mouth", but she gives me a puzzled stare everytime. Any answers in "blogland"??? Enquiring minds want to know!!!

Have a wonderful Thursday... what are you thankful for today?

Jen,
You're so cute. My friend Traci and my advice: write that one down. We love to keep track of the ridiculous things we say to our kids (usually when we're on the phone), such as:
1-No! You may not eat hard boiled eggs with whipped cream!
2-No sitting on your sister!!
3-Stop licking the Bible!!

Now you just add
4-Stop putting Baby Jesus in your mouth!

SMILE!
Love ya,
Alissa

Jen,
What difference does it make? Jesus is so good and kind and sweet to us we all should "eat" more of Him by staying in His Word and talking to Him more. As long as the little princess can't choke on the doll there is no harm done! I purchased an inexpensive Nativity set when my children were small, one they couldn't break. My son always liked to put Baby Jesus on the roof!
God bless you and your precious family,
An Old Gal :)

Hey,
Thank you for joining in at A Place Called Simplicity!! I love your blog name and your daughter is adorable...

By the way, maybe putting Jesus in her mouth is her version of "asking Jesus into her heart!"

She is so sweet - how blessed you are!

With love from Uganda,
